PWI’s 2008 Scholarship Recipients Honored
At the May 14th luncheon, PWI’s scholarship recipients, along with family members and school officials, each were formally awarded a $1,000 scholarship to the college of their choice. PWI received applications from outstanding high school seniors from Galena High School and Tri-State Christian School. The students selected were based on their outstanding academic achievement, their extra-curricular activities and their service to the school and to the community. The PWI membership is thrilled with the caliber and accomplishments of these three young women:
- Chloe Brennan, a senior at Galena High School, will be attending St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota in the fall. Chloe plans to pursue a career in law. Her undergraduate work will be in history and English, with a Pre-law focus. She would like to join an East Coast law firm upon passing the bar after Law School.
- Jordan Furlong-Scharpf plans to attend Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque. A senior at Tri-State Christian School, she will study to become a registered nurse while earning a bachelor’s degree in Bible. She plans to combine her nursing skills with her Biblical knowledge and someday work as a missionary nurse.
- Kate Heitkamp, also a senior at Galena High School, plans to attend Knox College in the fall. Kate has always wanted to be a doctor, and has already worked as a CAN and completed an internship at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford. Her goal is to specialize in primary care in a rural area as a family physician.

PWI will continue to support deserving female seniors and help them further their education.
